Thinking of getting a new car for 2011?

Posted in Topical

Obviously people visit Car-Advise.co.uk to look at reviews for new cars and motorbikes on the market. It wouldn’t be too far off the mark then to assume that many of these people will want to buy a new car, and maybe get rid of their old one at the same time.

Don’t know what to do with your old scrap car? Well how about donating it to charity? www.giveacar.co.uk allows you to do just that.

It is a social enterprise founded by University graduate Tom Chance. Even if you think your car has little worth, the website allows you to scrap your car through an Automated Treatment Facility (ATF).
If the car is roadworthy, thenit will be sold at an auction. Giveacar then receives payment after the disposal or sale, and after deducting a service charge, the profit is then donated to the charity of your choice.

Founder Tom Chance says: “You’d be surprised how many cars of ours come from those who simply want a hassle free way of getting rid of their car.

On a daily basis, we get callsfrom people with cars in full working order, who simply don’t want the pain of selling a carprivately. We welcome any Car-Advise visitor to take a look at Giveacar if they need their car picked up. Remember, you can choose the charity, and we’ve got over 250 to choose from!”

If this sounds interesting to you, then please view the Giveacar website: www.giveacar.co.uk or call 020 0011 1664.

Find cheap car/motorbike parts

Posted in Topical

I Thought would talk to users about locating cheap car parts with very little effort, Many people want to buy cheap replacement parts for there cars or motorbikes but don’t know where to start or go direct to there local manufacture for there car or motorbike parts and end up paying stupid prices.

There are many places to start looking for cheap car parts from part gateways which control many suppliers giving you option to view many quotes in a single window and accepting quote you feel is best priced, Such as http://www.partsgateway.co.uk which is a website which allows many suppliers for specific makes of cars to provide part quotes direct with little hassle.

However i Don’t seem to have found one for motorbike parts but for motorbike parts will require a-bit more time finding an supplier either using sites such as ebay, Or even phoning around local motorbike breakers yards who may have the exact part you need in good condition for a cheap price.

Just be aware though don’t settle for first price shop around otherwise you will end up paying through the roof prices for parts which should be cheap to get hold of.

There are also the problems of if you buy parts yourself who will fit them, Easy if you can’t do it or are unsure take it to you local car or motorbike repair garage NOT a commercial company’s as they will try force you to let them buy the parts but a private garages will get the part you bought fitted cheap and with little fuss.

Write your comments below on any bad experiences you have had with buying parts from your local main manufacture(Dealer) we have all been ripped off by them from time to time.

DVLA V5 Log book August changes

Posted in Topical

newsv5c

From August 2010 DVLA will no longer be issuing the old Green/Blue V5 Documents a.k.a Log Book  for Car/Motorbike registrations, Like myself I Recently got new log book for a car I bought to sell afterwards and DVLA now are issuing new Red/Pink documents.

One of main reasons we think this has happened is due to other year a-lot of V5 Documents was stolen and cars are being sold with dodgy V5 documents so new document means it’s harder to forge, Although old documents are still valid but once sent back to DVLA for detail or owner changes you will get the new style back..

Also to let some owners know now it’s printed on front of V5, This is not proof of ownership, I had to use this law many times which people don’t know just because log book is in your name doesn’t mean car is yours, My experience was with dad trying to claim the car as his because I signed log book into his name other year but legally I still own the car totally.

Removal of the return slip to use if you scrap a vehicle has also been removed as now you can only take your car to authorised scrap places and you must get a certificate of destruction for your car/motorbike otherwise it’s not legally destroyed and someone could steal its identity and you could rack up a lot of points on your licence plus fines in courts if stolen identity is used to go through speed camera’s or to commit crime.

Don’t rush out thinking you need to change your document from old to new all are still valid unless DVLA say otherwise at moment there is no sign that DVLA will stop old V5 Documents otherwise too many people would send in documents creating a Massive back lag in applications being Processed at DVLA due to backlog.

New Fixed ANPR cameras

Posted in Topical

It seem’s that to combat people driving without valid insurance and valid MOT the police have started placing Fixed A.N.P.R camera’s around many city centres.

The project was first started in Hastings by East Sussex Police to catch people driving around without the proper required documents or insurance cover, it seems to have proved it works as soon as a car drives past a fixed camera and triggers it to alert police, Any local police car will be instantly alerted to respond, However its slightly flawed as it only works if the local police car that is nearest their in-car system is working and many police will even say it connects to the network/databases when it feels like it and many times it fails to do so when it’s needed most.

So remember stay insured and make sure your car has m.o.t and tax also make sure it is in a road worthy condition and try avoid loud exhausts they may sound cool but most of times they just attract un-needed attention from the police.
