Skyjet SJ-125-23 – Review

Skyjet SJ-125-23

Many people haven’t reviewed the Skyjet SJ-125-23 which is a Chinese import motorbike while being cheaply priced for new learner riders who want to get on to the road with a cheap run around bike, Although due to the old Chinese fake’s have always had bad quality people are wary about buying an import motorbike.
My brother personally bought one of these back in 2008 and the model has not changed one bit apart from now kaiser are taking over the Honda CBR replica bikes from China but they are same in build quality and parts apart from the color change of the engine on a kaiser which is now silver and on the Sky-jet it’s black

Let me say first about ordering one, Most suppliers give two options either you can buy it fresh in the crate/box and put the front wheel on yourself ( That is what they call assembling it yourself), However you should take the option to allow them to build it for around £50 most places charge, I say this because I built brothers for him and came into a lot of problems it didn’t just need front wheel attaching as specified i almost had to rebuild part of the engine due to it wouldn’t run so replaced Carbrutteta and all fuel lines and replaced the gearbox nuteral sensor before relisting they cut/disconnected the wire and didn’t specify that in documentation provided within the crate.

So having the supplier build it for you, You avoid any problems like I did and will be able to just ride it as soon as it comes but yes its a cheap import and don’t expect there to be NO problems that is why its vital to buy from suppliers who offer warranty’s as being Chinese many parts have tendency to break or just stop for no valid reason.
so when you have warranty you can get the supplier to repair any problems although they may be slightly minor such as bike idle not being set correctly and fuel/air mixture being too lean however if built by supplier they will obviously conduct the basic checks to prevent any future problems.

The main problems which occur after around 6000 miles is oil leak from side of right crank case, Will need new crankcase cover and gasket which can be bought from chinesemotorcyclepartsonline.co.uk for around £30-40 If you have Sky-Jet model don’t worry they don’t have your model listed just buy the kaiser parts and they work same due to be same parts.

The brake pads should be changed around 2500 miles into riding it from new if not under heavy braking all the time, My brother used just to travel to work so i found after 2000 miles then it was needed to replace only front brake pads due to he refuses to use rear brake as its got a light end and he has already hit the deck once by slamming rear brake on when someone pulled out of a side road.

Parts are cheap but Personally if your buying a chinese motorbike don’t expect it to last you over 25000 miles unless you keep it perfectly maintained you may want to get a pulse adrenaline for the imported bike which will last  lot longer although it may seem to cost a few hundred more the extra cost is because of extra value and build quality.

Also the skyjet engine is an Old CG-125 Push rod engine before Honda fixed the vibrating issues meaning soon as you try rev your Sky-Jet/Kaiser it will vibrate so bad its rideable but you notice some things do vibrate tight or loose meaning you need to keep everything maintained, Take a few hours per month at least to look over everything and to make sure everything is clean and perfectly attached that way your bike will last you longer.

If you have the funds for a good bike then Stick to good makes of bikes such as the Aprilla RS125 which is a nice 2 stroke engine which is as close to a sports bike as possible while on a learner licence or just buy the Honda CBR 125 which is the perfect bike and will outlast any replica and will even outlast the Aprilla RS-125 due to 2 stroke engines need engine rebuilds after so many miles 4 strokes will just run and run and run.

This review will be improved and more content added in due course.

Volkswagen Golf 1.2 TSI 85PS

VWGolf

Well yesterday I was able to test a VW golf although was not provided by VW my friend just bought one last week and was willing to allow me to try it out for the day to see what its like he bought the basic model which prices start from around £14,000.

It has all the basic need anyone would need from climate control, Multi-Airbags, CD Player plus much more, With insurance groups from 11E meaning for the older or younger driver it would be typically cheap to insure depending on your previous driving history and if you have had any claims in the past, Most people who buy a golf are aged around 25+ and have driven for a few years so insuring the car is cheap as chips.

With a five speed gearbox and a TAX band of E which is around £190 for 12 months tax which is kinda average for hatchback.

When driving the car myself I was not able to work out exact 0-60 time but it was around 13 seconds which isn’t fast but it would all depend on the engine size you pick when buying, My preferred model is 2.0TDI model which should have enough power to have a lot of fun, But as my friend personally wants a car to run about which is cheap to run on fuel/insurance this is the perfect car from the new sleek design inside and out and emissions class of EURO 5 which anyone would agree is pretty low compared to other hatchback.

The smoothness of the driving is something you would have to personally drive to even contemplate how good and smooth it is although it obviously won’t be as good as a BMW in being smooth but for the type of car it is the perfect car to buy for running about everyday to and from work and taking the kids out for the day with a lot of space and pretty kid proof in a sense you can let your kids loose and its pretty hard for them to get food and stuff into places that you are unable to clean.
It is advised that you don’t just buy the biggest engine as with bigger engine you then suffer higher insurance group which can go up to around 17E which in anyone’s standards is pretty high insurance group for a hatchback you could just go and buy a performance car with around the same insurance group.

But as VW are adiment that the main aim for this car is to provide a safety aspect to driving as well as providing and appealing design for women or men to drive so there is no specific look on this car unlike cars such as Fiat 500 which is specifically made towards women drivers and not many men own one..

Why not take a browse at your local VW dealer and ask for a test drive you will see how great the car is before you go to buy any other car at least look at your options

It may be cheaper to buy one around a year older model which if serviced at a dealer should still have a valid warranty in-case anything should go wrong in the unforeseen future, While saving yourself around £2000.

The depreciation on VW cars is pretty low compared to other makes/models due to the great build quality of the German’s and the technology that is incorporated into the cars. although as any car when brand new soon as you drive it off the forecourt of a main dealer it instantly looses around £500 due to then being classed as second hand car, Don’t let this put you off buying second hand if maintained well could save you more cash which is vital in the economic climate today.

New Fixed ANPR cameras

Posted in Topical

It seem’s that to combat people driving without valid insurance and valid MOT the police have started placing Fixed A.N.P.R camera’s around many city centres.

The project was first started in Hastings by East Sussex Police to catch people driving around without the proper required documents or insurance cover, it seems to have proved it works as soon as a car drives past a fixed camera and triggers it to alert police, Any local police car will be instantly alerted to respond, However its slightly flawed as it only works if the local police car that is nearest their in-car system is working and many police will even say it connects to the network/databases when it feels like it and many times it fails to do so when it’s needed most.

So remember stay insured and make sure your car has m.o.t and tax also make sure it is in a road worthy condition and try avoid loud exhausts they may sound cool but most of times they just attract un-needed attention from the police.

Vaxuhall Astra VXR 2.0T

Posted in Reviews

Well yesterday I received an Astra VXR 2.0  turbo from Vauxhall it is an amazing car the sheer power is wonderful, I was able to have so much fun even just driving about on narrow back-roads.

Let’s start with the looks who can say this doesn’t look amazing in any lighting conditions from morning to-night it will always be a stunner and you will always stand out in a car park regardless of how many top end cars are around, The engine purrs like a dream and makes an amazing sound which sounds more evil when hitting HIGH rpm’s the exhaust note is just pure music to my ears. Although the inside is amazing it still have the common Astra style of interior and is ultra comfy for short or long journey’s I would even go as far as saying its the best car I have driven so far…

The VXR is well worth spending the money on, Although if you are looking for a cheaper option you could just go with a stock Astra but you have to sacrifice amazing looks and powerful engine for the reliability and comfort of the Stock Astra, However Buying a VXR you won’t be disappointed as they are the type of car that will hold it’s value for years to come and will always be in fashion.

The only problem the VXR does have is a slight torque steer which is only noticeable when you really put your foot down it wants to turn a touch not too much but enough to be noticed, So I had to keep rev’s low in low gears but once you pick up enough speed the torque steer seems to stop it really only happens through first and second gear, This is because of the sheer power the chassis has to cope with maybe too much power many will say but Personally I think it’s not much of a problem as legally you can’t put your foot down on public roads anyway and when you take it on a track it’s so fluid at handling you won’t hardly notice any problems.

Apart from that one problem there are no problems I have personally experienced with the VXR and i was driving it for a weekend, Some may say that’s not long enough to learn its problems But I was able to take it on private land and on public roads and tested it thoroughly and there is nothing i can compare it to at the moment its that good.

Why not drop in on your local Vauxhall dealer and ask for a test drive, What have you got to lose apart from having an amazing drive in one little stunning car.
